Time Laps Tomato Video.
Here is a video Of tomato seeds sprouting.
You can look at the left and see the days and on the right and see the watering. As you can tell the bigger the plants get the more often the watering is. At the end of the video is about the time you want to put each plant in its own container. One about the same size or a little bigger. Since a penny is 3/4 of an inch in diameter my guess the container is around 4 inches across. One single plant grown from a container this size should get big enough to go in the ground. That is one of the neatest videos I've ever seen. The time lapse makes them look like they are swaying the breeze.
