Seed Problem #2...

I am now dialed in regarding the helmet heads...but more trouble with my first tomato seed attempts. Several of my seeds pushed up, and they are now turning a weird yellowish-tan color. It appears they are dying. What is causing this???

Could be a lack of light.
Sometimes they are pale at sprouting, shouldn't turn from green to yellow.
A picture of you setup maybe?

could be damping off.

you should be using a sterile seed starting mix.
the mix should be moist, but not overly so. too much moisture will create
conditions that will cause damping off.
need more info to narrow the problem.

Could be too much water. Too little is also possible, but it's easier to accidentally give them too much if you're not used to sprouting seeds.

What are they growing in -- and how much of it?

sorry, more info....they are actually greening up now. Initially, they came up a weird tan color....different from others I think. I may have pre-ignited on this. haha. I am a bit nervous because I am trying so hard.

I have had new sprouts come up and turn a tad yellow. Just give them some good light and they should green up. Until you see the first set of true leaves you never know if the sprout is going to make it.
When growing things practice makes perfect.

Ed, some of mine are that weird tan color too. I have noticed some that started that way are now green.

In a way, this is kind of like that first week of having a newborn baby. Yes, 10 toes and 10 fingers!

Some of mine came up yellowish this year. If it has happened before I have not noticed it. But they all turned green under lights so alls well that ends well.
