Soren's MarNar F4
I traded this with some of you, and can't remember who all I did, so I just realized something. My F4 seedlings came up potato leaf. The F2 and F3's I grew I had regular leaf, pink fruit.
This may be due to plain old genetics, but I recall that last year the plant was next to an Evans Purple Pear plant (potato leaf). So, there might have been some cross pollination. I am going to plant several more of the f4 and see what comes up. I will also plant several of the f3 to see if any come up PL instead of RL. I plan to grow out these pl plants and see what the fruit looks and tastes like. I'll report back after the new seedlings sprout. |

Curt, I was one you sent seeds to. F3 as well as F4. I was going to grow the F4's next year but it'll be very interesting to see what you get! Should be a fun
growout, either way! Thanks for letting us know. I was kind of hoping I might see both red and pink but either sounds good! Darlene |

Curt, I also recieved the F3 and F4 seeds. It's still a little early for me to start them. I had planned to plant all of the F3's and F4's anyway, so I'll watch your posts here and let you know what's happening with these as well. Claud

Curt, I think it's plain old genetics, since Marianna's Peace is PL.
I am currently growing the F5 from Raybo, mine is RL. Please save seed from the PL, I know I would be interested! |

Thank you, Miss Lemon; for reminding me I too have the F5 from Raybo.
It was my intention to grow the F3, F4 and F5 so I could see with my own eyes the difference. I fear the little grey cells they have not yet recovered from the generosity of Gary and the other Tomatoville members in the Mostly Mystry Mater Mailin. Now if I can only remember where I hid the F5s so they wouldn't get lost. Claud |

Just an update,
I had one of my original planting come up regular leaf. I planted 25 more f4 seeds, and of the ones that sprouted so far, 3 regular leaf : 1 potato leaf. So my hunch is it is just genetics at work. I select for the regular leaf, but am groing out 1 pl to see what I get. |

F3, F4, and F5 are in the ground.
F3 is RL. F4 I have both PL and RL. F5 I have both PL and RL. All the plants appear to have the same vigor. I'll post photos here as things progress. Claud |

Claud,
I had 12/14 come up RL from my second planting. After that, I quit worrying. I have one in the garden that has set fruit. I gave three more to a friend. So now I am waiting to see what the ripe fruit look like as far as color. They are beefsteak shaped. |
