I know. I think a lot of us folks will be wanting Selbo's Red Ribbed. Cute name for it too.

Tnkrer and the third was Pattyb. The good news is they all sent me back seeds for my seed offer so there should be plenty to go around. Carolyn, wondering if Mike needs any fresh seeds.

Awesome! That sure is good news. Wouldn't be surprised if it is the most asked for tomato.

Carolyn, I just noticed your last post....
I think I have enough seeds - force of habit after about 2 decades of growing this tomato, but it's good to know you have a stash in case something happens to my seed collection
I'm now growing out the crosses between my tomato and Joe's Pink Oxheart and Indigo Rose .... it will be interesting to see what the F1's look like. |

As long as we're talking about Selbo's Ribbed Red and some are interested in it, here's a sample of its adventures
1) The three Selbo Ribbed Red plants that grew here last year spent the summer modestly veiled in mosquito netting to increase the chances that the genes in the seeds were the same their parent seeds had. With a snowstorm and freeze predicted the second week of September, their veil was supplemented with a couple layers of plastic. 2) The snow arrived -- Selbos were in the more distant tent. They survived that snow/freeze and subsequent spells of winter (with the help of their tent, of course, and a sea of gallon bottles of water around their base) and were still blooming and producing fruit when serious permanent winter and zero (F) temps arrived in November. Tough tomato! 3) Took some cuttings, just in case the snow slew the Selbos -- cuttings rooted and promptly began setting cute little Selbo fruit indoors. They've been growing all winter and are ready to go back out and make more Selbo Ribbed Red tomatoes. 4) Showing some of the colors of the ripening Selbo Ribbed Red fruit. Not all showed all colors, and there was a bright yellow phase some showed between the green and the orange, but I didn't happen to have any of those when the pic was taken. |

Selbo's Ribbed Red just looks like it is going to be very meaty. Very impressive for a small tomato. And JLJ, very impressive freeze avoidance!

Here are a few tomatoes that look an awful lot like selbo ribbed red and an orange one. Not sure what they are i bought them at the store and have yet to see another one like them for sale. Im saving seed and growing them out to see what i get. Flavor was amazing and they were nice and meaty with a sweet acid taste.
