advice for my new 10x10 garden.
I was able to plant my tomatoes this last week and while I wish I could have done it earlier, its better than no plants at all.
Ok so this is a raised bed with 8" high CMU blocks on a sloped piece of land. I was starting to level it out but it was taking too much of my dirt. I went to a landscape place and purchased 3 yards of "gardening soil". To my knowledge it has lime, soil conditioner, and mushroom compost. I took a nitrogen test and it showed very low nitrogen. My plants are 1.5 feet tall with a small root system. I bought some (13-0-0) blood meal and sprinkled a bit less than the 2lbs it recommended per 10x10 area. I have never worked with blood meal and would love to hear some advice on this fertilizer. I realize this is an imbalanced nutrient so what could i use to make up for the phosphorous and potassium? Is the blood meal a good choice for my young plants at this stage? How soon will they absorb the nutrients being sprinkled on top of the soil? I will take pictures when I get home from work and post!! Sorry if this is the wrong forum for this. Thanks for any help in advance! |
