Thanks Fishergurl, but I'm trying to stay away from that kind of adventure, although I have heard it really works

I grab my cages and give them a good shake.

Jenn- this is an excellent post. I have indeed seen little tomato ovaries low on the plant, not doing much, while the upper trusses are going nuts. Then, later on, they would start to grow. It's amazing! I have a Dr. Wyche's Yellow that appears to be doing that now- the first truss has 5 active embryos, but they are not growing. They have not dropped, no yellowing of the elbow. There are two trusses above it that are just opening up. Time will tell!

Default Blossom drop

Hi, after reading about blossom drop i was curious to see if anybody has experienced that problem after a foliar spray or after spraying for aphids or whitefly. Ive been spraying and it seems that my fruit set has really slowed down and temps aren't too hot.

Hmmmm.
That is what I am experiencing too. The flowers Looks pollinated, no blossom drop, but the fruits in the calyx are not growing.
Is this what is called imperfect pollination ?
I have seen things like this in the past ...on some varieties like ML, Pineapple...

Thanks, Spartanburg! I figured if I did the reading I might as well share what I learned and check that I understood.

Re: the baby fruit not growing - my impression is, basically, if the calyx doesn't drop you still have a chance. Seems when it's a simple failure, the whole blossom falls at the elbow.

Tim, not sure, but it seems like spraying might wet the pollen or possibly otherwise interfere. Maybe Carolyn or someone else can provide further insight.
