I always had much better luck with KBX than with KB. I have never had gray mold on a KBX plant even when it was right next to a black tomato riddled with the stuff. Roper I think you may need to prune a little on some of your potato leaf plants to allow more air flow particularly down low. I fight gray mold every year and it is almost always on black or GWR tomato varieties most of which are regular leaf. I haven't seen any real difference in leaf type affecting gray mold.

So your experience confirms my observation about PL being prone to grey mold. For the same reason I picked KB over KBX. |

KBX all the way here in Atlanta. KB want down too fast. KBX goes all season, keep picking off the yellow leaves, and it will muscle its way through 6 months of production.
I went from 2 KBX last year to 5 this year - no one can get enough of them. |

This year at a local store, I picked up a packet labelled Kellogg's Beefsteak. Anyone know anything about it and if/how it relates to either KB or KBX? I haven't been able to find any sort of information online. I have a nice one growing though, with a couple of huge green beefsteaks on it so far and am very curious about it.

http://www.tomatoville.com/showthread.php?t=17201 And if you Google Kellogg's Beefsteak you'll find a couple of places listing it. https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q...efsteak+tomato No such thing as a Kellogg's Beefsteak, it's Kellogg's Breakfast all the way. And just b/c I'm curious what was the seed company name on your seed pack that distributed the seeds. it might match up with one of the places I saw with my Google search, link above. There are some really bad places that give wrong descriptions, wrong names and wrong histories and wrong pictures. I just went through this kind of badness with someone here last week. Carolyn

Thanks for the info Carolyn, you have satisfied my curiosity, and I can't wait to try my generic label Kellogg's Breakfast
Here's a scan of the actual seed packet, bought from my local feed store: Last edited by Mushimi; May 28, 2015 at 05:17 PM. |

They were recenty bought out by Syngenta which is a large world wide company that's very involved in hybrid corn and soybeans and the like, some GMO's, and NK helps with development with those kind of seeds. I gave you the Google search link so you know that other places are also selling seeds for what they call Kellogg's Beefsteak, I don't know who first got that wrong, but what you have is KB, not KBX.
