OK ~ here's the scoop: the DATE plant exchange will be held the morning of Saturday, May 19, at VFW Park in Royal Oak. It's at Campbell & Lincoln - the same place as previously. The time is 10:30AM.

Hope some of you are planning to attend! Let us know.

It is nice to know that there are still two people left in Michigan. I thought they had all moved to Texas.

Ain't that the truth...last one out of MI, turn out the lights.
I lost one sibling to AZ and it looks like another is making the jump.

We will need to figure out how many people that grow plants plan on attending.

I know Duane has a lot on his plate with a new business he started and he is cutting waaaay back on his number of plants so that will mean he will have far fewer to give away than usual.

I plan on having the same number of plants but less varieties, so I too will have less extras.

Let me give you an example, if I plan on 100 different varieties and I want one plant of each variety then I would probably sow 6 seeds for each variety.
If I have a fantastic germination rate then I end up with 600 plants and only need 100....leaving of course 500 extra.

In addition to less varieties I just don't have the space to start as many seedlings as I did last year..It being Michigan I can't just put them outside on the driveway like some other folks, they have to go in the greenhouse and I just don't have the room...it was bedlam in there last year.

Another option would be if someone had a greenhouse and was willing to take the seedlings and nurture them till the swap and then cart them there...if that were the case, then I could start a whole heap of seeds.

The frustrating part is now I have someone kind enough to spearhead this endeavor like Linda is and I fear nobody will show up with plants.
