It may have been me who sent it to you....possibly. If it was me it is spelled Mong. They are large pink beefsteaks with excellent old time flavor. This is one of only a few tomatoes that is on the must grow list every year.

I went back into my private messages and yes i did send you the variety Mong. Here is a link with a little more info. They list it as a red beefsteak but the one i grow is a deep pink. Hope this helps. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/108967/#b

You know what it was years ago and my notes do not mention where it came from. Are you in the need for some Mong seed?

Yes, I think that I would like to try it. Every place that I looked did list it as a RED tomato. I wonder what it is that you have.

Just as a side note there is a tomato variety named "Hmong".

Thanks Ami for this new info.
I will check out all trades I had last winter
But, apparently, Mong = Hmong
Searching the net I can see it's full name is 'Humongous Mong'
Both Mong and Hmong are related to Humongous population from South of China

Can i be so bold as to say that for my family this tomato beats any Brandywine or Cherokee Purple in the way of flavor. It is slightly sweet but with a big punch of old time flavor. All i can say is that it is the only tomato that is a must grow for the 5th year running. If i did not grow this one every year there would be big disappointment in my house.
