Zebrune shallots question
I've seen photos of Zebrune shallots and looked in various seed places online for seeds for them. I'm confused, does this variety only grow from seed and not produce offsets? In other words only one bulb is produced? thanks

Chili, I'm a novice at growing shallots, alliums from seed but I did try Zebrune
and Ambition this year from seed. The Ambition seed produced a twin shallot- 2 bulbs connected at the base. The Zebrune produced an elongated single bulb. I probably had about 25 Z. bulbs and all were singles. I probably will grow more from seed next year rather than split the Ambition and plant the smaller bulbs. Unless someone with more experience weighs in, it seems that Zebrune would have to be planted from seed each year (or the smallest bulbs???) |

Thanks greyghost. Yes I understand now that Zebrune are only from seed and just one bulb. I'm wondering if I can start these now. I'm in the desert southwest so most gardeners start onions etc from seed or sets at this time.
