Thoughts on Surround WP?

As in I have never used/tried this but was thinking that a combo spray of this/DE would work well for keeping insects off my tomatoes and everything else and be good for the soil at the same time. My main concern is how hard is it to wash off? Will it come off with a gentle rinse or do you have to actually wash each tomato?

Thanks for any info/opinions.

I've used it on apples, mostly, but also on potatoes, cucumbers and squash, and grapes. But I've never used on tomatoes because bugs just aren't much of a problem on them for me. Fungus is another story. Anyway, back to Surround. The directions say to start spraying early, when plants or leaves and fruits are small, to build up a good layer. It does wash off and need reapplication if I get a lot of rain, but it really holds up pretty well. If you apply it when fruits are beginning to size up, a white haze will persist. But it does wash or rub off fairly easily. Of course, the film is really mainly a concern if you are selling stuff. The product, being just clay, is nontoxic especially in the thin film that remains on the produce.

My local greenhouse/farm supply carries it. I'd check those first as shipping is pretty high.

I think I'm going to try it this year, I had a huge problem with stinkbugs and blister beetles at peak production last year. Another plus for me is the ability to cool the plant/fruit since it gets so hot here.

Was checking on google and the best price I found was at the below website. It seems like it only comes in 25 pound bags. Henry fields had 5lb bag for $30.00.
