Can BeaverLodge slicer revert to Potato Leaf ?
I know it is a long shot ...to see if anybody else had that ......
A Beaverlodge revert to Potato leaf ?? I have What I thought was Beaverlodge slicer in a 4 gallon container .. and they are supposed to be regular leaf ....this one came up CLASSIC POTATO LEAF ..... arrrrg It is strong and sturdy ........ of course the most likely cause is a mix up last year ... If a Mix up then .... I did not grow Glacier last year so not glacier....etc. To me it does not look like Stupice, Matina , Bloody Butcher, Frue Liebe, Moravsky Div , Kotlas , Kimberly ..etc. It is not Unikainy or Mrs. Maxwells Big Italian........... Imur Prior beta ...just started this year ........so Most Likely suspect is between Schelicauski and Visitation Valley . I guess if the plant is "jointless" it is a Schelicauski . if joints ... then my Tomato taxonomy is not so good ....LOL

Save seeds from what you now have, single spontaneous mutations are permanent and heritable, so growout those seedsnextyear. BTW,does the rest of the plant look like the Beaver Lodge it should be? I should have asked that first. Carolyn

Woaa ......
well if I follow .....then the fruit that the seeds were from had a mutation possibly and are now potato ???? I am still thinking it is interesting but an outside chance of this happening I almost forgot I guess it could be hybridized inadvertently ...and this is what I got .... The Plant looks very happy in the small container ...... When I say classic Potato ....I mean unmistaken Big smooth Potato leaves ...... No such others like "Mitten Potato etc. " but Vigorous Classic Potato . (This one has potato leafs that start small as potato leaf before getting bigger...as opposed to the ones that start out looking like regular then turn more into potato. ) I will watch and try to compare ...with the other Potato leaves ...I do Have Glacier going this year as well as Schelikauski to compare side by side ........ I have other potato leafs going .. like Kimberly and bloody butcher Matina ... Imur Prior beta (but it is not them ). I guess I will have to be patient and observe ...and try and solve the puzzle and see if it truly is a unique ..or just a seed mix up......or a hybrid etc. I was thinking Visitation valley was one that started out more regular leaf then turned potato leaf ?? if this was the case I could eliminate it as suspect . anyway ...LOL lots of fun

I am still thinking it is interesting but an outside chance of this happening I almost forgot I guess it could be hybridized inadvertently ...and this is what I got .... ***** Why an outside chance?I gave you several examples and could you even more of single spontaneous seed DNA mutations. What you seem to keep thinking is that what you got was due to cross pollination, which is always possible, but then any X pollinated seeds that you might have sowed would probably not look like the Beaver Lodge original, and you said it did look like BL to you except for the PL foliage. Hope that helps a bit, Carolyn

I did also grow galina's yellow last year but I am pretty sure these plants are not them and
"less likely " of a seed mistake due to the yellow cherry fruit vs. small red slicer etc.

Yes it is very very helpful... Thanks .... I just wanted beaverlodge slicer ...what I got was a puzzle. I will have to just be patient and keep watching ....... It is kind of like watching the plant and seeing what it is "not " to see if it does become a unique thing .
