First Seeds 2016
You know, that first tomato tastes so good. I had forgotten just how good Sungold tastes.
I also missed seed saving. Started the first ones today. |

Robert, you forgot the routine. First you have to post picture of your fruit, then slice of it and lastly seed collection.
Lets start again...

Ella, you're going to have use your imagination on this one.
Imagine the Punta Banda tomatoes in the first picture being the color of the tomato in the second picture (Japanese Pink Cherry) |

Robert, we are still in the stage of dreaming here in NJ. My tomatoes are just blooming. I checked today and so far not even one set fruit. Your pictures are like a balm.

I'm waiting too on first ripe fruits. Seems like I been staring at green fruits for forever. I don't know which is worst waiting for seeds to pop or fruit to start blushing. How did the Japanese Pink Cherry taste? |

I just woke up, but...
Japanese Pink Cherry is a beautiful tomato. It has the classic grocery store look, shiny, round, almost like it has been polished, and it is pretty firm to the touch. It is an early producer on a big plant. It tastes like a real home grown tomato. Balanced flavor. Skin is easy to swallow. And it is producing all the above in very wet conditions. I'll be saving and sharing hundreds of seeds. The Punta Banda in the picture is one that would easily grow in a container. It needs less rain/watering. I can see it being grown in the deserts and drought areas for a salsa/sauce type tomato with a thicker skin. For us, only the early maturing types are ready to eat. Sungold is our first/earliest again. Now, it's coffee time |
