Default blue berries - how to tell when they are ripe?

I feel like these blue berries cherry tomatoes have been on the plant forever! I've picked probably a dozen or so sunsugar already. I've picked two of the blue berries thinking they were ripe but they were super bitter and green inside. I'm about ready to pull them out but want to taste one ripe one to be sure it's not worth keeping. How can I tell when they are ripe?

Usually these blue tomatoes are not eaten when blue, they are unripe and you generally have to wait till they sort of turn a bit orange and the blue turns more of a purply color. They kinda look like plums. At least that was how it was for me when I grew 2 varieties of blue tomatoes. Yeah, I can still remember the taste of my first unripe one.

Do you happen to remember what a ripe one tastes like?

I agree with Peebee. Depending on variety, the different blue ones I have tried have been sweet and juicy if you leave them on long enough to ripen good. I have several ones with blue in them growing now and like you I waiting and waiting and waiting. Been waiting along time and probably still have 3 to 4 weeks before they will be ripe enough to pick and eat.

It seems 'waiting' is the general term describing tomato growing ..
I have green tomatoes on a couple of plants, and I have been waiting for what seems like an eternity...
So it's not only blue toms - all varieties seem to be plagued with this ..

Yeah blue tomatoes take a long time. I found these OK, not great. They ripen fairly fast in my experience compared to other blues. Yes they are yellow looking when ripe.

Yes...and I am not growing any more blues until someone creates one that is actually tasty. I think that may happen soon, too.

I just couldn't wait any longer. The plant was taken out yesterday and replaced with a sunsugar rooting.
