Mark Twain Tomato
Has anyone grown this variety? I am this year and I'm very excited to see want I will get. From the little info out there it is a red regular leaf indeterminate of medium to large size fruit. I am curious as to the history of it. From what I have read it is said to be older but no one knows more that that.
Here is Tatiana's link for it. http://tatianastomatobase.com/wiki/Mark_Twain -Zach

You may have seen the posts below, but they were all I could find fairly quickly.
It's mentioned a couple of places in this thread http://www.tomatoville.com/showthread.php?t=27017 and here, by the same person, http://www.tomatoville.com/showpost....34&postcount=1 and again, same person http://www.tomatoville.com/showpost....31&postcount=2 and again, same person, who apparently thinks highly of it http://www.tomatoville.com/showpost....3&postcount=12 This is a post from early this year by that same person -- last couple of sentences about Mark Twain. He seems to have gotten unexpected results with Mark Twain -- might alert you to see how your performance compares -- and as this poster seems to be intermittently active recently -- could be that if you keep this thread going with occasional reports about whatever your Mark Twain does, you might get some comparisons from him and/or others who've grown it. http://www.tomatoville.com/showpost....&postcount=174 It's briefly described in this list, by ANOTHER PERSON http://www.tomatoville.com/showpost....5&postcount=11 I'm sure I've seen more discussion about it than the above, but haven't time hunt more, but hopefully some others will have more to offer. A general web search for Tomato Mark Twain did come up with quite a few hits - mostly from seed sellers -- but sometimes those will include valuable data if you check them out, even if you don't need seed. Just a thought. |

Yes, I grew it many many years ago, seeds from Fox Hollow Farms, and as Tania says, about like Rutgers, but I think Rutgers is better than Mark Twain. I grew it b/c of the name, long live Samuel Clemens who called himself Mark Twain in his presentations..
Sorry, but I can't say anything very positive about it,but that's the way it is. Carolyn

Wow thank you you for the info on past threads. I searched but didn't go back that far. I will post updates on it throughout the season.
The name is one of the reasons I was excited to grow it. I live in Missouri so anything with a Missouri tie I try to grow. That is an appropriate beverage indeed! Thanks for the info everyone. -Zach
