Default The Winner 2016.. PPO!

After all delays and cold days, my first fruit is finally turning color: Pearly Pink Oramge has been loaded with fruit for weeks and weeks, and my frustration has turned into anticipation, as I can now watch the largest one turning into deep orange and towards pink.
The plant itself is vigorous, but apparently, looks like it has given all its energy foir fruit production. Most likely, it will not survive after July (when the fruits have been picked).. Even with nitrigen feeding, I doubt the leaves will turn lush green again..
But I would love to see that!
My fault of course, for not giving it a larger container. But - now I know better. It definitely is a workhorse, and hapy to bloom.
Now if only my other varieties were as early bloomers... !

Good for you! Seeing first fruit makes for a happy day. : ) For a small, compact plant, that is fast to bloom, loaded to the max with fruit even it does take a bit to start turning, PPO is a great plant.

Seemed once mine started turning, it doesn't stop. Everyday I go out and pick and pick and pick.

I read on Tania's site that it is a determinate and mine the leaves are starting to turn. I grew mine on 3 gallon containers and it did fine. Don't think having a bigger container would have made any difference actually. Could be wrong , but think once it reaches it normal height, that it, it tomato making time.

I'd be interested in knowing when you get to taste yours what you think about it. It was good, but for somebody like me who has a sweet tooth, it was a bit acidic.

NarnianGarden I had same experience last year with PPO. Once it started, it was the end. Such is determinate tomatoes. But they do fill the spot.

I am trying to feed it to make sure it has enough energy for all the green fruits to ripen - so it doesn't have to drop them, or the blossoms. Once it's done its job, I am glad to have the pot for something else... Maybe a micro dwarf.

The first one were somewhat 'meh', but I expect the flavor to improve. Tatiana's tomato base 'rates' it so hghly .. (although I know taste is a very individual issue)
We'll see as the weather warms up again!
