Nice production!
Question to Carolyn or anyone who has grown Mom's heart- I get large heart, bigger than 4-6 oz, probably 12-14 oz, consistent in size. Very tasty too. Growing it for second year now.

I never had Freda grow it home for me, but Neil in IL, a longtime friend and still seed producer for me lists it in the 2016 SSE Yearbook,seeds from me in 2014,I didn't go back to see if he listed it in 2015 and here's what he said

indet, RL, with a high yield of 12 to 20 oz hearts with excellent flavor, seeds from NY MA C in 2014

And it is listed in the Pink tomato section of the Yearbook.

What was the source of your Michaelas Pink seeds? Valerian from Romania was the first to send it to many,including myself,but some got hearts,some got beefsteaks and in a series of e-mails he explained what had happened.

He then sent true Michaela's Pink to several and two of my now 7 seed producers are growing it out this summer for seed production for the next seed offer here.

Valerian just called it Michaela's
Pink,no heart indicated in the name,but did so in his description of the variety.

For anyone interested,this was Valerian's intial description of of the four varieties

1. Garden Red Pride - indet, midseason, red beefsteak, 12 - 15 oz, productive and tasty, No chemicals used excepting copper sulfur, at least in the last 15 years I have it in my garden
2. Michaela's Pink - indet, midseason, pink beefsteak, 12-15oz. I have it from Michaela, my primary school colleague. It is over 20 year old in Michaela's garden
3. Moms'Heart - my oldest heirloom, over 40 years old in the garden, inherited from my mother - indet, midseason, dark red heart, about 4-6oz, very tasty. No chemicals used excepting copper sulfur, at least in the last 40 years
4. Pink Delice - indet, midseason, pink heart, 5-8oz. I have it from one of my neighbor. I grow it for 13-16 years, but it has a longer history in the area. No chemicals used excepting copper sulfur, at least in the last 25 years

I'm not going to cut and paste here the em's between Valerian and myself about Michaela's Pink.

Carolyn, envious of all that you show,not much here in upstate NY yet,but my brother lives about 20 miles north of Asheville and I'll ask him how his are doing.

hmm, so what we have is not Mom's heart? Mine were pink last year too...

And you saw in my post above that Neil listed Mom's Heart, seeds from me from Valerian in the SSE Yearbook,with roughly the same sizes that you got and it was in the pink section of tomatoes.

So I think the error was possibly Valerian saying it was red, and sometimes that happens as I think we all know,especially since not everyone checks the color of the epidermis.

Ignoring size now, and just speaking to color,it's also possible that Mom's Heart might be acting like Fish Lake Oxheart where the epidermis mutates frequently between clear and yellow.

I checked my data book quickly and saw that I sent it to Gerardo and I think two others, so we shall see what they get.

So right now, as regards the list I put up,the only one with problems is the Michaela one and a couple of us have true seeds for it via Valerian,and two of my 7 seed producers are doing seed production this summer.
