Awesome way to ship plants....but expensive.
In my hydroponic store journey's i came across this awesome product. It enables you to share your best plant genetics with someone across the country. Now i know it is not meant to be for tomato or pepper plants but the idea alone was enough for me to buy one. Its called a Clone Shipper from Cloneshipperunit.com . It has a bottom cup that interlocks with a dome that can be zip tied shut. It has a thick foam stem stabilizer to protect the base of the plant and to protect the soil from coming out. It also has a rubber gasket that goes over the foam to seal in the wet soil to some extent for shipping. And the kicker is a push button dual LED light to help the little guy stay perky along the way. You could essentially transplant your seedling right into the cup, allow it to properly root, and send it on its merry little way. Now the only bad part is that they retail for around 13 bucks but my hydro guy sells it for 8 bucks. Not the cheapest but if it is a important plant you need to send coast to coast its actually a bargain. What do you all think?

HTG, that's pretty awesome, all right. Please tell me that the LED light can be programmed for 16 hours on and 8 hours off...

I've seen those foam collars for another use, with a plant, maybe in a grow tub set up?
Except for maybe the light, I think one could make something like that at home. But it sure is neat! |

Neat idea. Thanks for posting it.
That foam collar can be made from water pipe insulation, pool flotation foam, puzzle mats, or any other closed-cell foam product. Cut your own collar, tape two solo cups together, and you can make that thing, at least without a light, for 25 cents. |
