Default "Tesoro/Intense" Is it a hybrid?

Hello Tomatoville,

I bought ( I know, but it's winter...) a clamshell of tomatoes called "Tesoro" , a plum shaped paste with essentially zero gel and few seeds. I researched it a little and it states it is grown from seed known as "Intense" which looks like a trademarked brand of the same tomato marketed as "the Chef's tomato"
It tastes pretty good for a store bought paste and I bet it would likely be great home grown so I saved some seed on a whim and have about 100 drying.

Has anyone grown it? is it a hybrid or OP. Any info?

Thanks , KarenO

Karen,
It is a "natural" hybrid. Does that clear it up?
No clue what that means... Probably a hybrid, but you won't know unless you grow!

I googled "natural hybridization" and I went into a mini coma immediately. I'm sure there are a few geneticists here that can simplify describing the process, but it seems that seed saving might be a fruitful (hee hee) endeavor...at least in the long run.

Have some good looking F2 plants with large numbers of small plum shaped tomatoes. None ripe yet, will get some pics up tomorrow. I like the look of them and they are not the same shape as the grocery store tomato I saved seed from, they are slimmer more pointed. Looking forward to tasting one
