Default Dr. Carolyn tomatoes at Trader Joe's

I giggled in the produce aisle of Trader Joe's today when I saw the prices for heirloom tomatoes. A 2.25 lb. container was $6.99. A 1 lb. container of mini heirlooms was $3.49. When I got home I read the store's "Fearless Flyer," and saw that the mini heirlooms are describing as having "fabulous names like Dr. Carolyn, Chadwick Cherry, Orange Flame, Sugar Snack, and Thai Grape, to name just a few." See photo attached. Despite the absurd prices, the mention of the fabulous Dr. Carolyn (or at least her namesake variety) made me happy to be a member of Tomatoville.

"... grown from seeds passed down from plant to plant ... "

I had no idea that plants were so sentient and dexterous!

Thanks for the laugh Bill, maybe someone somewhere thinks plants are sentient, maybe not,but the namesake person for sure is sentient, last time she remembered.

Now when was the last time she remembered....what were we talking about?

I buy those so-called heirloom grape/cherry tomatoes from TJ's off the season. They sell them for $2.99/lb around here. I am growing one variety , seeds taken from a chocolate/zebra grape now.

I have grown other varieties in the pas too. They have thick wall and skin.
