Identify this variety, please
I posted my grow list here: http://www.tomatoville.com/showpost....&postcount=158
It's a long list, but at least this is a multiple choice question. I'm at a loss to identify this variety. It's a dark tomato with a unique blotchy pattern to it. |

Looks like a stink bug tomato. They make weird blotches like that.

It could be. There are no white spots in the inside, though. It could be whiteflies, too.
Here are a couple more pics: |

Is that the only variety you are growing that looks like that right now and I ask since I went through your list didn't see anything that rang any bells and wanted to suggest the tomato condition called Blotchy Ripening,
First, the photos and photography is always an issue. https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...30.ZdQJnDAuwQM And now the links https://www.google.com/#q=blotchy+ri...tomatoes&hl=en Carolyn

Yeah, it's the only one that looks that way. I know stink bug bites, and I'm pretty good at seeing whitefly damage given my recent practice at it, and those don't seem to be the issue. The odd ripening certainly could be from environmental stress of some sort. It tasted good, though I will grow it again even if I don't know for sure what it is.

Whitefly damage causes uneven internal ripening, you just get lots of the tomato that never ripens, and it gives a hardness to the flesh, like it has a huge core. I know about this personally.
It does look like what you have on the outside though. |

Different varieties can be susceptible to different "stuff"in different years is perhaps the best way I can put it. Carolyn

The blotch/uneven ripeness should penetrate into the core if it's whitefly damage. We all love the feeling of slicing into one and seeing the island of nothing.
What variety is this????? Holodeck Cherry? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Garden-20-Se...4AAOSwoydWtB1y Last edited by Gerardo; August 21, 2016 at 12:38 AM. |
