For a very accurate info
There are two Michaela's Pink varieties: beefsteak (named Michaela's Pink) and oxheart (named Michaela's Pink Oxheart). I am still looking for a little box containing my Michaela's Pink Oxheart seeds, but no chance, yet. But I was very lucky to see them in Marsha's collection. It was an opportunity to have them - many thanks Marsha. Marsha was very kind to send a sample to Carolyn as coming from my part - thanks again, Marsha. So, Carolyn, you should have both varieties Michaela's Pink (from me) and Michaela's Pink Oxheart (from Marsha). I think that is better to be named as Michaela's Pink and Michaela's Pink Oxheart because this is the way many people know them. Introducing Michaela's Pink Beefsteak, people could think it is a new and different variety.

I will return to this thread when I can, but my first priority is trying to find my tax stuff since I have a deadline, didn't go to bed until 3 AM this morning, my problem, and I'm pretty sure none of you cares.
I normally do come to Tville several times a day, especially since as a Global Mod I feel obligated to do so and want to do so,and even more to the point if I get PM's sent to home as well as e-mails, I try to address them as soon as I can. Carolyn

Carolyn, 3AM means one of three things:
1. You work overnight = my two sons and brother all do this. 2. You're 18-25 years old and the party is just getting started. 3. ZZZZzzZZZzzz I hope you find your tax stuff today. |

I have grown Queen Marbena this year(thank you Valerian for the seeds) and is one of my new favourites, although generally I don't like orange and yellow varieties. I had Azoychka too, but Queen Marbena won the race by far in taste. I had just one plant but next year will be more for sure. My 8 years old daughter, a big tomato fan, always asked for "that orange tomatoes".

I went back and reviewed all the em's between V and myself, there were 9,7 of which dealt with MP and two with Marbena. In the others he was explaining that he had two gardens and was sure he could find his heart ones and would send the seeds to me when he found them.I can fetch that direct quote if needed. V sents seeds to many others as well, and at some message sites where I no longer participate, some got beefs and some got hearts. In post 15 here there was no mention of oxheart.Who added the wordox heart to MP? In post # 16 it was said that there were two MP varieties,a beefsteak and an oxheart. In post 17 here it was said that V was still looking for his heart seeds. One of my main missions is to get new varieties out there so others know about them,as I have for many other new varieties, either by SSE listing them and/or offering them in seed offers. And that depends on the number of seeds I have. I just checked the spread sheet as to who was growing the seeds that valerian sent me via marsh and i had said two, which is correct, but only ONE would be SSE listing it. So what should I do now? When I list varieties in a seed offer I indicate for each one what I know about them, not just a list.I then come back and create a germination report,so I know that all is well, and sometimes not, that is,seeds that wouldn 't germinate as well as knowing leaf form, which is also a clue. Then I come back in the Fall for a performance thread asking if what they had was what it should be and if they liked it. If there are significant problems with any variety then I delete it from the next seed offer. I have been doing seed offers and SSE listings since about 1982 so am very aware of the pitfalls that can arise. I've already sent out seeds for the other three on that list such as Mom's Heart,so that's good as I see it. So what's best for me, considering what I noted above, is to not have my one seed producer who grew out MP from seeds via Marsha to SSE list it, nor send me seeds for MP for my now very late seed offer. The other person can just regrow it at home if he and his wife like it. Thanks in advance to all of you for hopefully understanding my own position as I see it re the variables. Carolyn

Just updating, and I've been doing this all evening, long distance,Verizon loves me but I don't love them.
There's one person growing MP who just told me that he got hearts from the seeds that V sent Marsha to send me. I asked above who added Oxheart to the name, but no one got back to me.And I asked since in all that I said above, and the em's between V and me the word oxheart was never used. So if he got hearts, that's great and I told him to go ahead and SSE list it. Based on what I said, and I still hope someone will answer me about the oxheart word, should I tell him to list it as Michaela's Pink or Michael's Pink Oxheart? He also has enough seeds to send to me for my seed offer. This is not the only variety I am concerned about and it's b/c some folks, depending on where they live, are only now finding out what they have as to a description. Carolyn, who still has to contact the other person about what he got,but since he won't be listing it,he's not an SSE listed member,I'm not as concerned since SSE members have a deadline to meet for getting stuff listed in the 2017 Yearbook.

Valerian thinks they originally came to Kygreg from V's seeds. V.saw them listed in my seed offer, and asked me to send you some. I sent you seeds from my own growout. I never got anything BUT HEARTS from MPO. Once again, MPO is a different variety than MP, it is not a beefsteak that throws hearts. It would be fine if the person listed MPO as the name in the SSE, because this separate and distint variety only grows oxhearts. I hope this helps. |

There are two pink tomato varieties I got from my primary school friend Michaela, a beefsteak and an oxheart. From the very beginning I NAMED them Michaela's Pink (it delivers only beefsteaks shaped fruits) and Michaela's Pink Oxheart (it delivers only heart shaped fruits).
Carolyn, the only variety I sent to you was Michaela's Pink. The variety Michaela's Pink Oxheart I sent to other people (eg KyGreg), but not to you The reason I do not send this variety to you is the fact I lost the seeds and I cannot find them. One day, last winter, I saw Michaela's Pink Oxheart on Marsha's list, here in this forum, and I asked her to send me some seeds to recover the lost. At the same time, I asked her to send you Michaela's Pink Oxheart seeds (thanks Marsha). If I remember well, that time we had a talk about this varieties, I told you that I cannot find seeds from oxheart variety to send you, and, as a solution, I asked Marsha to send seeds from her portfolio. (I must search the email and see our discussion related to this varieties). So, you have two varieties of Michaela's Pink tomatoes, one delivering ONLY beefsteak shaped fruits (from me), and another one delivering ONLY hearts (from Marsha, via KyGreg). Both varieties are Romanian, both are originally from my garden and from the very beginning their names were Michaela's Pink and Michaela's Pink Oxheart. Do not think that Michaela's Pink Oxheart you have is the same Michaela's Pink you have received me from with word 'Oxheart' added later by somebody. There are two different varieties.
