Default Morocco Tomatoes

Howdy all?

I have promised some of you tomato seeds from Morocco. Well I spent 6 weeks in Morocco last summer and I can tell you one thing for sure: The tomatoes in Morocco are an absolute horror, at least in Rabat where I spent all of my time. They use some varieties that look absolutely perfect from the outside but are hard on the inside and don't have much of taste. I am guessing they are some F1 varieties similar to what we have on the shelves of our US stores. These are tomatoes that were selected for shelf life and not flavor.
I remember in my young years when the tomatoes were an absolute delight and were very soft when ripe and red. I used to take some salt with me and go in the fields and just grab a few tomatoes, sprinkle them with salt and have a wonderful experience. I am sure that in small towns this is still the case. However in big towns, they use the same type of tomatoes that stay hard for weeks when they turn bright red.
I also have not seen any other varieties with any color but red. No yellow tomatoes ever and obviously no purple tomatoes. I have seen some pink ones but that's it.
