And so it starts...
tomatoes are starting to roll in!
Finally! Now I can eat tomatoes 3 times a day. Here's a pic of today's harvest...including the largest Lemon Boy I've ever grown. And I think there's one even larger out there. Bottom ones are Tigerella with Mortgage Lifter to the left, the outsize Lemon Boy, a Brandywine OTV next to that and two Radiator Charlies next to that. More Lemon Boys and Sweet 100's in the middle. YUM! And lots more to come!

QAguy,
Great growing, and particularly interesting since I live just down the street. How do you like Brandywine OTV, haven't grown this one yet? I am currentlly overwhelmed with tomatoes. I gave away probably 30 Brandywines/and Earl's Faux as well as an assortment of others in the last few days. Half of my plants will be empty in a few weeks, and I will pull them, turn the soil, and replant my fall crop in august. Enjoy those maters! Vince

Looks great QA!
I'm sure you have made lots of folks happy with your "culled" tomatoes and you're lucky to be able to plant a fall crop. Keep those pics comin, RIK

Well, I like Brandywine OTV very much. On a par with the original Brandywine.
Not shown was a Kellog's Breakfast which I had last night and it's one of the best tomatoes around IMHO. Lemon Boy is always in my garden. One of my favorites. Yes, culls have a place to go at all times. One of the ladies at work starts asking for tomatoes in early June. Here's a few more shots that show there's lots more to come. Fall crop might be a bit late this year. Will be starting from cuttings of the current plants.

Wow, just beutiful!,
Only a few of my plants look that healthy still. Do you use Daconil? I don't see any of the white crud that appears in most photos where it is sprayed on your plants. I have had lots of foliar disease problems this year, but never the less plenty of matos. Nearly all my plants are infected now and this fact has precluded me from taking cuttings for the fall. However I have about 100 transplants between 2-6 inches tall ready to go for August.Cheers. BTW can you put some cultivar names to those pics? Vince

Another wow from me! Those look amazing. I was excited about a couple of mine, but yours are just loaded, especially the Tigerella in the last two pics. Thanks for posting the photos.

Vince - nope, no Daconil. I just takes my chances on that.
I mulch heavily with grass clippings (even steal it from the neighbors) and that seems to keep the diseases down. If you roll your cursor over the thumbnails, you should see a little box open and that has the name of the variety. Let me know if that doesn't work for you and I'll put the names in another post. supergirl. Yes, it's been an amazing year. I've never had this much fruit set ever! I've even got Lemon Boys that rival the size of some of the beefsteak types. I'll post a photo when the monster LB is picked.
