I'm with you on Blush - no pop. Maglia Rosa was a good bit better for me.
The hard thing is that you could grow it next year and love the taste! Last edited by jtjmartin; July 29, 2017 at 11:43 AM. |

To me the difference in taste correlates with the conditions of the soil, if other variables relatively constant.
I've grown Blush and all the Artisan mini packs before( from Jonny's) an was not impressed but tried again last year after getting a truckload of new soil. The difference in flavor was incredible. Green Tiger was really like a fruit, Blush was just as delicious. With Maglia Rosa, they made the best mix. So don't give up yet, they are indeed great. Check your soil and nutrients and keep trying |

Early in the year the marbling only occurs if the tomatoes are seriously over-ripe. As the season goes on, the marbling starts earlier and earlier during fruit maturation.
I think the best flavor early on is when the fruits still have some green on them. And flavor does get better as the season progresses. |

For me I like my blush dead dead super-dead ripe. They get super sweet for me. Like a tomato pineapple.

Don't give up on Blush. I too like mine super ripe. The riper it is the sweeter and juicier. I grew my Blush in a 3 gallon container. Gave it MG, TT and Epsom Salt. When Late Blight and Gray Mold hit hard here the year I grew it, it was the only plant that didn't suffer and even after some frosts, it kept producing tomatoes without any leaves.

I don't think Blush is well-suited to supermarkets. It would have to be picked too early to get full flavor. Anything picked on time would be mushy by the time it hit the shelves.
Not surprising to me that a supermarket Blush was bad. Would be surprised if a supermarket Blush was good. |

The supermarket Blush looked just like every picture I have seen of them. I guess they just were picked way too early and gassed or whatever they do to make them seem ripe.
