Transplanting winter squash?
I have what appears to be a beautiful healthy winter squash growing in the middle of my beans. I didn't plant any winter squash this year, but a hubbard squash didn't make it to the compost pile and was instead tilled into the garden area. Do you think I could dig it up and plant it somewhere else? It hasn't flowered yet, but is probably getting close.
Thanks, Tyff |

doubt it but...
curcurbits do not like to be transplanted even small ones. i start them in peat pots for that reason. as the winter squash plant grows, the roots travel out and down. braking those roots probably will doom the plant even if the shock does not. how big is it? tom |
