Just put in nearly 70 plants for a late crop...or at least I hope to get a late crop!

I have about 50 seedlings I started 2-3 weeks ago under lights in my family room. I will be planting some and giving some away the end of August. I plan to start Cheeky seeds when I get them from Craig.

I saw my name in the Cheeky file that you started today so I knew that they were on the way.

Now I just have to find some more seed starting potting soil. Even though we can start seeds here now, most of the garden centers don't stock it this time of year. I have a little bit left from the seeds that I already started, but probably not enough.

Actually, I have a couple varieties I'd like to pursue further--one is an F3 (seed) of a Bi-color I got from Cherokee Green:




The other is a Kellogg's Breakfast crossed with a heart:




I've only eaten 3 of each but both were great! They also were 2 of my first large varieties to ripen from an early/mid- June planting. (June 8th-16th transplanted, picked July 25th & 30th.)

KB crossed with a heart, I can just imagine how meaty that tomato would be. Any idea which heart it crossed with?

No second season here but I do have a nice LONG one.

I took cuttings from Momotaro today. They will grow in my sunny bay window over the winter. They did great last year. I used to only grow the dwarfs in that window like Red Robin but I was surprised last winter that Momo did so well. Nothing beats a ripe Momotaro on Christmas Eve!

I think it may be narrowed down to Kelleher's Oxheart, but still need to find 2004 records to be sure...

Took 50+ cuttings last weekend and potted up a another hundred volunteers.
Will begin to slowly (a little at a time) cut back plants that have survived to this date.

Have been picking melons. Melons not as sweet this year. To much rain I think. I will try some fertilizer this weekend and see if that helps.

Pear trees need picked as branches are beginning to break under the load.

Orange and Lemon trees look to be doing well for the fall harvest.

Set out six and have another eighteen hardening off right now. All will be in Buckets or 5 gal Grow bags.Besides my favorites I am trying Red Barn, Ramapo OP, & Schelkovski Early. Can't wait to have BLTs in October.
