Opalka - ? - Page 2

Started a new thread Carolyn, but I think it may be the seeds. I rotated out the ones I had in Solo cups, and the leaves themselves - while wilty, show that in feel..aka, all the other tomatoe leaves if I *lift them*, the drop down but there is a natural healthy firmness to them.

Out of the 6 additional seeds I started almost a week ago, only 1 has come up. I think it's a seed issue.....

Starting fresh I suppose. Either a new seed source

Riddle me this = acronym, humor me .

Carolyn . I gave them a extra week just to see if there would be any change. They branch leaves/leaves do get longer everyday. Stems are getting thicker. I've ever seen anything like it though. The droop. The curling. I would rename the the weeping plum tomato.

I have a shopping cart at victory with some potential plums. Still reading and googling on older paste/ox threads. It's like a kid in a candy store. too many to choose ;-)

I bought Opalka from Pinetree this year and the seed packet is labeled “Opalka”.

MD, it sounds like you're describing a healthy wispy plant. They can seem half-dead to the untrained eye. It's a really different look.

Nan. I believe you are right . I posted my thoughts on a LED setup thread.

Since ~ejecting~ them from my plants to remain growing under lights till transplant, I took them by the window and actually started semi-hardening by putting it on our shaded porch when it was warm.

Is it possible or not, but the plant seem to recover with no curling leaves on any (aka, every leaf was showing various levels of curling). It's as it it did not tolerate the LED lights at all, and was growing, yet stressed ?

Aside from the fact that if a seed germinates, can the new plant come out unhealthy from the get go ?
In between this debacle, I actually put in some more of the same seeds to germinate. Only 1 out of 4 have........

Yes, a seedling can germinate and be defective. An example would be a "blind" seedling that never gets beyond cotyledon stage.
