Default Mexico tomato from TGS

I'm already thinking about next year. In looking through TGS website I found the picture and description of this tomato pretty interesting. Anyone out there tried it? What do you think? Taste? Yield?

Has done well for me here in the PNW. As I recall it was a heavy producer with a nice, not so sweet taste.

I grew the variety Mexico back in the 90's since it's long been listed in the SSE Yearbooks.

To be honest I thought it was ho hum, nothing special, given all the other choices one has in a pink beefsteak type.

Comments about Mexico appear from time to time, and like the reviews of Kellogg's Breakfast they seem to vary from "must-grow" to "so-so" depending on taste buds and growing conditions. It's on my must-try-someday list.

I have found that it does not handle temperatures below 25 degrees fahrenheit very well.

I grew it and it's a fine variety. It was the catalog cover that year and the pic was too tempting to refuse. They get me each year. LOL It didn't make my 'Must Grow' list but it was pretty much as advertised in the TGS catalog. Good production and large fruit averaging about a pound each. Definitely worth a try. Taste to me way better than 'Ho-hum'...

I grew it from TGS seeds several years in a row. Large sprawly plant, large nicely uniform tomatoes tending towards the mid to late season for me. Might grow again eventually when I quit sampling the many others out there. I liked it.

I don't think my seeds were from TGS... and I grew it a couple years ago at Location #2... which means the owner of the property at Location #2 ate them all... except for these which I used for seeds (so can't comment on taste but should probably comment that your results may vary):

The photo of 'Mexico' is one of the tomatoes that has really stood out to me in their print catalog the past couple of years. I haven't grown it but I'm currently testing germination of some seeds I traded for a couple of years ago. So far no luck, but it's only been 6 days.

On Victory Seed's website they describe it as,"..makes good thick juice. Not watery like some beefsteaks."
That was going to be one of the 3 varieties I purchased recently, but the fact I already had some traded seeds, and because Valena's Pink caught my eye, I bought that one instead.

At my place it was a very good tomato and will grow it from now on.
Very few seeds and is great on a hamburger or BLT.
