And here's a picture of one of the screens in my Database. The two boxes at the top labeled "Old Seeds" and "Planting List" are just a couple of the check boxes that tell the Database which varieties to include in lists which can be printed. I didn't have the Planting List box checked on Ferris Wheel and it did not show up in the list two days ago. Because the Ferris Wheel seeds are at least 5 years old, I have the Old Seeds box checked.

And the winner is: (drum roll !!!) .... Olewars Big Pink. Taaa Daaa !!!! Today is Day 4 in the replant of the "sent in" varieties.

I think your act of hope is actually reality. There's one up, one helmet head, and one little loopy legs. I put 4 seeds in that cell and this is day 10 for them, and there's no MG mix in the picture.

Beautiful! I've got to show this thread to my wife--she thinks I'm crazy. Just kidding of course. Love tomatoes. Oh and peppers, eggplant, etc. Trying to companion grow sweet corn in the field radish stubble between tomatoes. In my case she may be right.

Today has been a good day so far. This morning, I discovered this little guy (below) and am somewhat amazed that it showed up after so long a time in the Jiffy mix. I have to call it one of the few survivors of my disaster. It also strengthens my conclusion that the disaster was caused by a bad bag of Miracle Grow Seed Starting Mix. This is truly the only difference.

I just hope this little guy lives to make the trip to the main garden or one of my containers.

I too experienced the hidden babies plant before.. I think this happens when water pushes my seeds to the bottom of the potting mix. So I always wait before re-seeding, Amen!!

I have heard from more than one customer about problems with MG potting mix. You just can't go wrong with plain ol pro mix. I think I sprouted over 5000 starts this year in it. Well good luck my friend, I hope more survivors emerge.

Thanks, Mark. But all the survivors that I thought I had saved are now dead except one. I did a complete replant on everything and now have almost 3 dozen in the main garden and a couple in containers. I will reiterate that the most remarkable symptom was the distinct smell of "moldy sewage" - a heavy odor of urine with the musty smell of mold. All trays were new. The same trays were rinsed and cleaned and re-used for the replant. I now have more seedlings than I will be able to use. I think MG mix was hurting my efforts for longer than I want to admit.
