Uluru Ochre
I am growing Uluru Ochre. At this point mine are starting to look orange/brown with green shoulders. They are softer than the green ones but not sure if they are ripe yet. I don't want to pick them too soon. These will be my first ripe tomatoes of the year. I want to pick them when they are perfect. Does anyone have pictures of what they look like when they are perfectly ripe? Thanks.

When they are that color and feel soft-ish, they are ready. Many of these will be quite large for a dwarf plant.

Mine looked like orange tomatoes that had been dropped down a flight of steps, as if bruised. They were delicious though.

Man that is an ugly color! Baby poop-ish. I can't wait to try them though! Looks like mine are close. Thanks everyone.

Strange color, good flavor. In the process of finding the marketable UO during the Dwarf Project the ones I grew out were not very productive but were very interesting and got a lot of attention from people I shared with in taste tests. Most stuck their noses up at the thought of eating a "baby poo" looking tomato. After trying it many wanted to grow it. That was a year before the final product so they had to wait. Good luck, I hope it does well for you.

Thanks! I am looking forward to it. Yes, people can be picky about tomato color. During the winter I picked up some of the Kumato tomatoes at the grocery store and put them in my cart. A lady asked me how they tasted and I told her not great but better than most of the store bought tomatoes sitting on the shelves. I didn't convince her to buy them. My Uluru Ochre plant is doing well so far.

They are delicious and I did like the color, because it is unusual.

I grew Uluru Ochre 2 years ago just because the name is so cool. It was a good tomato, too. Since most of my growing is for market, I don't usually repeat unique varieties unless they are heavy producers which my UO wasn't.

It is my favorite dwarf. Really ugly like it is bruised or something but when you get that first bite in your mouth its like the Kool-Aid jingle... "Oh yeaaaaaah!" Their biggest problem is that they don't last too long. I have a habit of eating them pretty quickly!
