Nan, what you said and Gardener. Gotta cut the last of these good ones up and toss in freezer! Actually looking forward to start to buy Roma's and let them ripen for a week or so for fresh salads etc. That is the best taste and texture I have found to get me thru the winter??
I've had enough, 100+ plants too much Pete |

People say the store-bought Campari are decent in taste. My mom agrees.
Tryno, are you a Tomatovillian saying, "I'm gonna cut back on tomatoes next year"??? That's a common sight here, but when next year rolls around, we'll see... Last edited by Nan_PA_6b; November 26, 2019 at 11:56 AM. |

Ha! I know, everyone around here says I said the same thing last year about cutting back! I agree on the ripe Caparie's but I / we eat a lot of toms and the price kinda upsets me
oh well................ Pete |

You could make tomato-based salad dressings, from home-canned tomatoes, instead of using fresh tomatoes. I have yet to try it, but if I were to invent one, I'd definitely consider adding onion greens and salt. |

Shule, there's gotta be a niche market for that.

Pete, ya gotta get grow lights & keep some plants going all winter. A bank of Hardin's Miniatures would keep you in little tasty pointed cherries during the off-season.

I did a germination test with 15 seeds from among the pictured fruits in the opening post. It's early still, but 7 out of 15 have roots, so far!
I'm also testing seeds from related fruits from another year (which were a cross between Galapagos Island and something else), which fruits I had frozen in the freezer. None of those have roots yet, but a couple of them look like they might grow some soon. Not sure, though. These are the seeds from 2018 that I mentioned freezing in the freezer (I had forgotten that those weren't the pure Galapagos Island). The pictured fruits (from 2019) aren't known to be crossed, however. |

All 15 of the seeds from 2019 have germinated! None of the freezer ones from 2018 have germinated, yet, though.

Good going, Mark! Tomatoes with a little anti-freeze.

Thanks, Nan! Hopefully they'll get even more freeze-tolerant fruits next year, in even colder temperatures. Hopefully they'll taste decent, too.
