Lots of new to you varieties? ......

Just sowed my seed today and have been totally undecided on my last choice - so totally off the wall - saw Bundaberg Rumball on your list - I have seed - it was the last seed planted today

My list:

Sunchocola F1
Brad's Atomic Grape
Worry F3 - going back - trying to find something early here
Fred's Tie Dye
Dwarf Firebird Sweet
Uluru Ochre
Bundaberg Rumball
Oud Holland
and Red Lithium

All on the 2020 list are from previous grow outs and seed collections

from 2018 and before . This year was a restart up after a year break
and a cut back and moderation of sorts …..so I think I do not have the luxury much
of new varieties for this year …….

But already next year 2021 :
I would like to go for Sean's Yellow Dwarf ….
Uluru Ochre I have seeds …..but next next year lol

Denise, I am also going back to Worry F3. Two years ago I had a small heart/paste with a wonderful flavour and was productive too. Last years attempts from that one were a bust. Going back to find THE one!

Blackbear - hope you have a good season, you have some very fine varieties lined up to go.

Nobody will starve for lack of tomatoes around here …
but it still is killing me to "hold the line " at 40 varieties. And they are all good ones to me ….
I have had great luck with them all …

Hey BB,

Who was your seed source for Velmozha and Zolotoe Serdtse? Andrey has identified these as good early hearts and so I'll be wanting to try them in 2021.

They are Good ! highest recommendations …

I think I got Velmozha from Tatiana's ?

and Zolotoe Serdtse from Victory Seeds ?

I have settled also with Danko and EM champion for early hearts ..

depending on the year ...one is more productive than the others …

You will not be disappointed …..

I now have leads on seeds for all four varieties from Russian vendors. Many thanks to Andrey for helping me with translations & verifications.

BB, have you tried Pink Honey? It produces very well, even here.

Pink Honey - sibsad-nsk.ru/Ohio Heirlooms - Rozovyi Myod - РОЗОВЫЙ МЕД

I am not an expert, and am only just embarking on my Russian/Siberian heart trip. I have grown Pink Honey (Rozovyi Myod) for years with seeds from Ohio Heirloom, and it does well here. I tried Anna Russian but it did not do well so I scrapped it. Back in January I decided to take a look at adding an additional Siberian heart for this season. I did some searching through Tomatoville and concluded that EM Champion is another good one, and picked up a package of sibsad-nsk.ru seeds from a Russian EBay vendor. The purchase & delivery went smoothly so I decided to explore a bit more, and you know how that always ends up... So back to TV and I read every post from Andrey_BY which contained the word `heart.' His contributions represent a splendid reference on the subject and I decided to try a number of additional varieties. I chatted with Andrey directly and he advised me that in his opinion, Velmozha (Nobleman/Grandee), Zolotoe Serdtse (Golden Heart), Danko, Pink Honey and EM Champion are the very best early determinate hearts. I noticed in this thread that you are already growing 4 of these 5, and hence my question about whether you had tried Pink Honey. Once I aquired a bit more knowledge, I decided to add the following determinate hearts - Amber Heart F1, Maiden's Heart, Sweet Heart F1, Taras Bulba, Wolf Fang and Zest/Raisin. I wanted to try a couple of RU hybrid hearts since for me hybrids are always more productive. The purchasing is easy from a couple of EBay sellers (olzzzass2891, andleg) and they are selling professionally processed seed packages, not stuff collected from someone's garden.

There are also a bunch of indeterminate hearts recommended by Andrey which I am trying, but that is a whole different conversation, outside of this thread.

I will add to this sidebar …..
I used to grow Monomakh's Hat it was semi determinate for me and nice big heart fruit
but not as container friendly as EM Champion and Velmozha and Danko and golden heart.
I can also recommend the dwarf project heart .. Pink Passion as well for heart earliness. lol

Looks like Danko is the more productive for me this year - absolutely shocking production for such a small plant. It was the first decent sized fruit for me and was tasty. EM-Champion had literally hundreds of flowers but very few set. Perhaps next year. Good suggestions, thanks.
