From what I can see, it's several fused blossoms all together known as megablossom. See if the fruit continues to grow. Several tomatoes will grow in clumps and produce a catfaced tomato. The recent world's record tomato was also a fused tomato blossom. See if it will continue to grow. Should not bother your other tomatoes. I sometimes get this as well on Big Rainbow tomato variety...not sure why. Sometimes the fruit will die and fall off on it's own...sometimes they will continue to grow into huge tomato with many clumps of tomatoes in one blossom.

Certainly not herbicide drift, and for sure not a mega blossom. Any other ideas ? These pictures were taken almost a month apart.

Hi Dan,
Very strange indeed, There must be some form of mutation involved in this abnormal growth, perhaps one of the biologists can be more specific as to what sort of hormones etc may be involved. KarenO |

Are there also normal blossoms on the plant? Or is this the only one so far?

It's a trait that is past on from generation to generation, there's normal blossoms on the rest of the plant, but this truss all the blossoms are like this except not as big.
