JD's Special C-Tex, a SLOW sprouter???
I've been sprouting tomato seeds for the past 19 years but have never experienced such a slow-sprouter as "JD's Special-C Tex" was for me this year. All eleven varieties of tomato seeds were started on Mar. 21 and all but one went outside for hardening-off this past week. That lone pot sprouted 3 days ago, after being started 6 weeks earlier!! Would like to hear how JD's Sp. C-Tx sprouted for any of you.
thanks!

Larry-No trouble germinating JD's for me-first time I am growing, but it did fine-any chance you buried the seed too deep?

0%. From about 30 seeds, from two different people. I'ts the one I'm most upset about. Tried with the first batch, then the rest went in as back-up two-three weeks later. Nothing.

michael... don't think I planted them too deeply. Just barely covered them in Jiffy 7 ...same as all the others.

Hmm, not sure why they're giving you trouble. Mine sprouted really well and I know I was your source.

LarryD,
Wow! I had 100% germination of the JD Special C-Tex seeds kindly sent me by Morgan & Suze. Started these seeds Dec 26, and planted into the EarthTainers on March 22. (Photo from this morning) Ray |

Duane kindly sent me some seeds of this. I got 100% germination in 4 days for these. Really looking forward to trying this one.

My JD's came up same as the rest of them. I had this kind of trouble with Piccolo this year. 2 different seed sources and 2 different plantings and none of them came up. It was weird. Only one out of 200+ tomatoes that didn't germinate.

Really appreciate the feedback from all. For whatever reason, my experience seems to be out-of-step with most everyone except
gssgarden. Unexpected flukes......... WILL DEFINITELY give it another try ...next year!!

I got good germination for my JD's seed. I received mine from a SSE listed member.

Wanted to add that this spring, JD's is one of the smallest plants in my garden, 3 ft or less. It was in the 5-6 ft range in the fall. Same seed source, not sure why
