Excellent point! Not to worry.

BTW it was Deltraveler who sent me a few Yamal seeds. I went out and checked that plant yestarday. There are 12 greenies on it, some pretty good size! The plant itself can't be more than two feet and it is coming back from near death.

D., I think is it a common knowledge that I suffer from a chronic seed addiction. It gets a bit better in summer months, and winters usually aggravate the disease. They still cannot find any reliable drug to help me. Stan (my DH) has this special look every time I tell him I got more seeds, but he does not try to reason with me anymore.

At this time a year our house is full of seeds - drying, some still fermenting, some are soaked for testing. 3 rooms are a full mess, with seeds everywhere. Yesterday I got all my seeds from the cold storage (to clean the fridge), and going through these boxes I got the crazy idea that I needed more pepper seeds asap.

Now, waking up in the morning with fresh head, I think this was not a bad idea, but maybe I need more!

I have a very decent sweet pepper collection at TOMATObase, but I sure lack personal experience with hot peppers, which I started to enjoy in the last years (in my food). Cayenne peppers are also awesome for your health (heart and blood vessels).

Anyway, I usually buy my pepper seeds from Tomato Growers Supply, but this time I decided to check out Peppermania and Pepper Gal.

Linda, that's would be a 'MUST HAVE' , as I am a very boring person myself, so it'll be only natural!

This morning I was eating beans with salsa for breakfast. I put a little too much of the homemade salsa on it. It was killing me! That stuff is so hot! It's fermented jalapeños, anaheims and chiltepans. The peppers are really hot because I barely water them in the heat of the AZ summer. After fermentation, we add tomatoes, cilantro, onions, and more peppers!

I never fermented peppers before but I am told that is the secret behind Tabasco sauce. Fermented in Jack Daniels kegs supposedly.

They are really delicious this way. We add salt and ferment for about 6 weeks. Then add salsa ingredients. The fresh salsa ingredients really last, instead of going bad in a couple of days.
We also add a bit of organic apple cider vinegar to taste after the fermentation process is done. Basically, we do a similar process to making saurkraut or pickles.

Every year I seem to start 2 weeks earlier. Last year I started right after New Years and we have a last Frost date of May 9th. The problem I have is that the plants get so big that they overflow my 12'x16' greenhouse and I had to move some to a temporary hoophouse http://imageshack.us/a/img847/7693/004sm.jpg . An early start on peppers works great, but it's no fun having your tomato plants start dying off in late August. I'm going to try my best to wait until the end of January this year - yeah right.

There are two things I never regret spending good money on: books and seeds. And seeds require less room on the shelf.
