Default tomato tone frequency vs. t'ville recommendations

I read Carolyn's fertilization method which I recall to be granular fertilize twice and foliar fertilize after that. Then I read the mfg recommendations on a bag of Tomato tone and it seems they recommend fertilizing every two weeks. Now, I understand they have product to sell, but how does one reconcile those two recommendations? Thanks.

I remember the last time I used it per the instructions, my plants werer growing in 5 gal. buckets. I saw no adverse effects, in fact, the plants seemed to perk up. What you must take into account, is what is already in your soil, etc.

Try it at half the reccomended rate and see how it goes.

Scattering pellets every 2 weeks around each plant sounds like a lot of work.

I just mix about 2/3 cup into the surrounding soil. I distribute that fertilizer in an area approximately one cubic foot, and then plant right in the center. I don't fertilize again until the plants are starting to load up with fruit, and I usually do some pelletized fertilizer and liquid fertilizer as well.
