What leaf type is this?
these are a few late started seedlings from my "Emma" project, and so far all the reports have been Potato leaf.
Well I have this one odd fellow, and I am wondering is he still considered PL, or what? Thanks

After all these views no one knows the answer? Maybe I discovered a new leaf type

Need more time. Give them another week and then they will give you their true colors and leaf type.

I'd wait until a few more sets of leaves are fully developed before making a determination. Early Girl will show rather potato leaf looks in the first set of leaves, but then end up very regular in appearance as it grows.
If your plant continues to show leaves that all look like those first leaves, then I'd probably call it intermediate PL which is not all that uncommon really. You'll see it in F2s of crossed tomatoes where one parent was PL and the other with not so serrated RL foliage. Like in crosses of a PL with something like Novikov's Giant. |

thank you all... very interesting.
I with 100% certainty that all of these seeds came from one fruit. ALL of it's siblings were perfectly PL ! Thanks again

That is RL. Were the blossoms bagged? If not, it is not unusual to have low percentage cross pollination from bees etc in seeds from a single fruit.

The one just to the right of it in the top picture looks like it's going to be the same or similar.

I never make a call on PL or RL until there are several sets of true leaves b'c I've been fooled before.
Right now I'm leaning towards PL b'c of just the few lower lobes and lack of typical serration and that's common for some PL's. And for sure even a single seed in a fruit can be X pollinated, but let's wait and see what happens with a bit more growth.

Bill Malin (spudleafwillie) told me about "intermediate" leaf types which resemble both PL & RL traits. Its too early to tell, but it could be what you have.
I had first experience with this myself with x-ed "Lillian" seed a few years ago - the leaf type wasn't quite PL and not quite RL - Time will tell - ~ Tom x-ed Lillians (Intermediate on right - Lillian PL on left):

Thanks all....
I am not making any decisions based on comments or leaf type. I was just curious. I will still plant it out to see what I get. Thanks again.

so let's assume it is a RL plant..... would conventional wisdom say that the fruit could vary as well?
Thanks

I have two Stump seedlings in the same cup and am facing the same conundrum. One looks PL, one looks RL. Can't decide if I should skip Stump or grow out.
