Red pear tomato
I received red pear in a trade and am wondering what to expect. Is it bland like yellow pear?

It is less productive with better foliage cover and isn't as susceptible to Early Blight ( A. solani) as is YP. I don't think YP is bland but I certainly never grew it for taste, rather, I grew it for sale to chefs b'c they adore it, and you have to admit it is kinda cute. I do find that the taste or RP is a bit better than YP, so give RP a go and please report back.

I agree with Carolyn. Red Pear is delicious.I also never found Yellow Paar bland, but thought it mild. It also spoiled quick, but Red Pear kept longer. Didn't realize it was less productive then the yellow, though. I am growing one plant of it this year.

Hmmmm, I didn't realize there was a difference between mild and bland. Anyway, thanks for the info, it is the only red cherry I'm growing this year and if it were not very good I would have put it in a poor spot to make room for others.
