Loving my midget melons
I'm growing Minnesota Midget musk melons/cantelope this year. Vines are supposed to only get to three feet, but they are already that long and full of flowers while my squash and cucumber vines are only a foot long and starting their first flowers. I wish that I had planted them inside a tomato cage instead of letting them run, but the fruit drop when they are ripe, and I don't have any spare cages. It sure is nice to have something do better than you expect, especially when other things are giving you problems.

Here's a pic. I have five plants on a 3'x4' hill. Lots of little fuit now. Putting everything else to shame. Big draw for honey bees.

No, I didn't get around to it. They look like normal muskmellons
(netted texture, tan when ripe), but were about the size of grapefruits/softballs. |

I'll be planting mine soon. My lettuce is ready to start picking and cabbage will be ready a little later and that's the space I need for the melons. Yours look great and it's getting me in a Minnesota Midget mood!!!
