Default A little bonus

There is an old, somewhat genteel, but definitely trendy neighborhood that lies between my home and work. Sometimes the day before trash pick up day, I'll cruise through and pick up old plant pots, some empty, some with half dead or mostly dead plants. There seem to be a whole lot of folks who live there that think a plant with dead leaves is a dead plant.

I stick the pots with plants still in them under a tree and water them for a few weeks to see what perks up and what is truly dead. A few weeks ago I picked up some "dead" daylilies, and sure enough, most of them have resurrected. This morning I was going to repot a couple, and found a little bonus!

I'm tempted to give it a go. If I container grow the little dickens and with a little weather luck, I might get a tomato or two. If nothing else, I suppose I could have fried green tomatoes for Thanksgiving.

So would that be the "Bird Preferred" or "Squirrel Preferred"
variety?

Bird.

The squirrels are far too busy eating half of a pecan and throwing it on the ground for me to step on to worry about tomatoes.

Update: Looks to be some kind of cherry tomato. Maybe I'll have a ripe one for Thanksgiving instead of friend green tomato.

Yeah, I get some wonderful plants that way. It's amazing, in the spring I can count on 2 or 3 butterfly bushes at the very least.

Update: A yellow cherry-type.

So, perhaps this is a bird planted current tomato from my own yard. There were several that came up along an overgrown part of the fence that I left. My neighbor likes picking them when he's working out in the yard.

It's popping out a lot of little green tomatoes for being in such a small pot. I'm tempted to plant up, but I'm also expecting a freeze or frost any day now.
