I'm here several times each day but if there aren't any threads where there are posts that I can be of help with, off I go.
Other than that I've been madly trying to get my blurbs written for the 2010 SSE Yearbook, still waiting to find out if there are enough seeds for a few varieties to list, trying to finish , and did, an 800 page book for book club next Tuesday, trying to rearrange my tomato stuff after getting supplies sent from Staples yesterday, splurging on a prime rib dinner yesterday and half the meat was gristle and it cost me $18, comtemplating the news from last week that I need two cataract surgeries and plastic surgery to correct the ptosis of the right eye ( putting off those until late next Spring), following the political news very carefully and discussing/arguing same with my closet neighbor who walks up here several times each week to get books from my "lending " library and generally running errands as needed b/c: ...once the weather turns bad the car goes into the garage the battery is removed and brought into the house and I'm in here for the winter fighting cabin fever, hoping the Black Bear is gone so black oil seed can again be put out for the birds. My orthopedic surgeon leaves me with this message each time I see him; "Carolyn, take NO risk behaviors and if you fall don't tear anything, break it, and I want a clean break not a compound fracture".

Carolyn, is it really a bear or the legendary SASQUATCH that's supposed to be running around the woods of WHITEHALL just to the north of you???

Ted, it's those Black Bears that are running around not just Whitehall but on MY deck as well. REAL Black Bears.
Oh look, a moose out there in the back yard or is it a unicorn? No chupas here that I know of but I'll let you know if I find a decayed carcass out there that I can send you for a positive ID. Double J, do me a favor and e-mail me at cmale@aol.com so I can send you the blurb for Jean. I worry when all info is just in PM's; call me obsessed, call me Carolyn, but please just do it, thank you.

Follow the birds
Man, sounds like your ready for a winter home in the south! You can grow toms in Florida, I think, this time of year. That ticks me off when I go out to eat and get something worse than I could just mess up myself!

Carolyn, cataract surgery is not bad. I had my second one in July. My first in Nov of 99. Almost a full 10 years apart. This one was easy. He says I need eye lids lifted so I get in more light to see. I go back in early Dec for check.

carolyn and anyone else be sure if you store a car or any machinery over the winter to add STA-BIL gas additive to the gas. 4 oz for every 5 gallons is recommended for long term storage. failure to do so may cost you a lot of money come spring. gas today is crap and degrades into a varnish that clogs tiny passages in the fuel system especially carburetors on small equipment like lawn mowers. STA-BIL is easily found in walmart or any auto parts store. a 16 oz bottle will cost around $10-$12. 16 oz will treat 20 gallons of gas. tom |
