Default Recommend Tomato Books, pls?

I have just called our top bookdealer after reading the thread on Carolyn's book and getting 'all excited'!

Sadly they had not only never heard of it, but had NO tomato books on their computer...

Since I am now forced to import my own, can you recommend three or four books which I can add to Carolyn's one, so as to make postage (often 150% of the book's cost!) more reasonable?

Thank you...

"World Record Tomatoes" by Charles H. Wilber ISBN 978-0-911311-57-0

"Giant Tomatoes" by Marvin H. Meisner ISBN 978-0-9755153-1-0

"The Heirloom Tomato" by Amy Goldman ISBN 13 978-1-59691-291-5

Carolyn's book is the meat and potatoes and the rest are gravy. Ami

I just picked up one this week that is full of glossy pics and info on many different varieties. I hadn't seen it before now, but then wasn't looking over the summer for books. I just checked the copyright and it says May 2009, so it's new. "Tomato A guide to the pleasures of choosing, growing, and cooking" written by Gail Harland and Sofia Larrinua-Graxton published by Dorling Kindersley Limited / DK Publishing, New York, NY, USA. I'm still wading through it, but so far not bad. It's not Carolyn's, but it has other varieties listed, so if you get both you'll have more referenced. I still haven't taken the time to scan through the recipes....but definitely will check those out. What can I say? I collect cookbooks and gardening books....so having one that combines isn't a bad thing in my book. LOL

I also spotted one called "Lois Hole's Tomato Favorites: Share Lois's Tomato Facts & Folklore" by Lois Hole. Published February 1996 by Lone Pine Publishing I glanced through that one in the store but limited myself to buying just one (I was indulging myself as it was, so had to behave myself and get only one of the two.).

I don't know of other tomato books, but I know of some good publishers and other garden books.

If you're interested in nontomato books, Timber Press in Portland, Oregon, has a great lineup of garden-related books, including Teaming with Microbes: A gardener's guide to the soil food web (Lowenfels); and The New Book of Salvias (Clebsch).

Chelsea Green has an interesting catalog of "green" books, including a lot of gardening titles.

A new one on roots is Roots Demystified (Kourik).

Giant Tomatoes is out of print, but I ordered the other two along with Carolyn's book a few moments ago.

Thanks, once again!

After the fact, but if you'd like a few recipes and a quick browse - maybe for your next order (Carolyn's is still my favourite) .......

"The Tomato Festival Cookbook" by Lawrence Davis-Hollander ISBN 1-58017-498-1

and

"The Great Tomato Book" by Gary Ibsen with Joan Nielsen ISBN 1-58008-048-0

Thanks, but went with Barnes & Noble for the others.

Postage is way too high for a single book...
