Default My Dale Chihuly Garden for Winter (pics)

Well, as not too much going on in our real gardens for Winter, I thought I would post my "fantasy garden" that will help get me through until Spring. Do you too recognize vegetables after viewing the pictures a few times as I do - - or am I dreaming out loud?

I REALLY think I see some of Brad's Wild Boar Farms tomatoes in several of the photos. Now, I better put away that bottle of Wine......

Paul,

It was a stunning Chihuly display!

All I could use was my Canon digital camera with Flash OFF, as no flash was permitted in the Exhibit (for obvious reasons).

....but could I afford just one piece of his work......

Ray, your photos are terrific. Chihuly should hire you.

You'd look awesome in an eyepatch too. (Am I right, people?)

Hey Remy,

Glad you enjoyed the "eye-candy".

We had a hard freeze here last week, so almost everything is gone. I did manage to drag a 'Tainer of Goose Creek and a 'Tainer of Peppers into the Family Room overnight, but the garden looks pretty sad.

But "Life Springs Eternal", and I will be starting my seeds for the 2010 Season on Dec 21 in my trays inside.

Raybo - I really enjoyed seeing most of those pieces from your pictures last April at the Desert Botanical Garden.

Here's a slideshow of what was there, if you're interested....

kerino,

You were fortunate that you could take your photos with ambient light. Beautiful pictures!!

I had to set my camera at 800 ISO to get my photos inside the (dark) San Francisco Museum of Art and unfortunately, several were blurred - but as you can see many took just fine.

Anytime folks can get to a Chihuly Exhibit, it is a mind-blowing experience.

Raybo - your pictures turned our great!

Believe it or not, when I was standing in line to enter the park that morning, they had staff selling extra expensive passes for a 'night time photography' event! You always want what you don't have - LOL!!

Kerino

p.s. thanks for looking at my pictures - you would laugh if you saw my crummy little snapshot camera......

''Crummy little snapshot camera" doesn't actually matter all that much - it's what you can see, and how you work with what you have. My little camera is a Nikon 3200 - that's 3.2 megapixels, and a 3x zoom, and I've gotten some amazing pictures with it. The main advantages of my 'big' camera - a Pentax K100D - are the serious zoom lens, and stabilization (which gives a wider range of options for lowlight pics). (Yes, I do control the exposure and aperture, but I can fake out the little camera pretty well by now.)
Both sets of pics are very cool - a colleague introduced me to Chihuly's work when we were doing a conference in Las Vegas, but the pieces are even more interesting in the Botanical Garden setting.

Kerino, the Desert Botanical Garden seems like the perfect venue for Chihuly. I loved the blue spires with the agave (or was it aloe?)
