Phostrogen... Who uses it?
Visited my friends place today. He always has an amazing vege garden.
I gave him some Tomatoe Plants this season, some of the ones i was growing myself. His plants are just in amazing condition. Lush, Green, Healthy with bountiful amounts of fruit. I asked him why is plants are so good, he said he uses Phostrogen! I can remember hearing about it, but have never used it. Googling it seems to pull up some favorable traits in relation to Tomatoes. So do many people here use it? http://www.debco.com.au/products/fertilisers/phost.php Thanks |

Google only finds mention of it in Australia, New Zealand,
and the UK (and maybe Zanzibar, although I am not sure if that was a "for sale" listing), so North American growers are not likely to be familiar with it.

Just checked... amazing, you are spot on dice.
I never noticed it was in those 3 country's. Ok, i'll tell you the funny story behind this product. My mate that's been growing Tomatoes for years is also a Policeman, he made a big drug bust years ago and being the green thumb he his, couldn't help but notice how good this guys dope plants were!! He asked the guy what he used on them to make them so successful, he replied "Phostrogen". So my mate has used it with great results ever since. |

Sounds a bit like our Tomato Tone. I looked at the site but didnt see anything listed in regards to NPK levels, any idea what they are?

Evidently Phostrogen comes in many flavors. From normal to slow release ferts plus other products as well. They also have it on the European continent, Holland.
The soluble Plant Food has a NPK of 14-10-27 plus micros. They also have a liquid Tomato Food with a NPK of 6-5-9 plus Mg. It seems more and more fertilizer companies are settling on a NPK for tomatoes in the range that Phostrogen Tomato food is, and the Neudorf Tomaten Dunger that I use and Ray tested on his EarthTainers which is 7-3-10 with micros and mycorrhiza. So for tomatoes more isn't always better especially if your using beneficial microorganisms in the blend. Ami
