Alleged by an infamous British tomato board cruiser to have been purchased in a street market in Portugal as a huge, red tomato of near record breaking size, the seeds distributed abroad a few years ago from England to eager tomato growers apparently didn't produce the anticipated results and "Portuguese Monster" fell into obscurity within a year.

I grew it last year fom seed distributed by the Brit. My tomatoes were quite big, over one pound, and the plant was prolific. A great tomato for sauce.

I have grown "Michael's Portugese Monster" for three years, good production, good flavor and fruits mostly in the 16-24 oz range; some went over 2lb. Both MPM and Portugese Monster are listed in Tatiana's tomato base. PM is listed in the 2009 Yearbook but not MPM.

There are 4 listings in the 2010 SSE Yearbook for Portuguese Monster 2 under Pink/Purple and two under Red Tomatoes.
