Default New development in root knot nematode control

I found this of interest, and thought others might, too.

Bayer CropScience has a new product in the testing and trial stage called Votivo, which is touted to form a barrier around the root system of plants, limiting nematodes from feeding.

It's a root colonizing bacterium which is used as a seed treatment.

Sounds rather promising, and is slated for release in 2011. No idea if it would be available to the home gardener at that time, though.

That's cool! We've got root know nematodes here - combating with enriching the loamy sand with lots of composted horse manure, oak & pine leaves (our pH is 7.3-7.4 - beach sand) & growing & turning under marigolds each year. Seems to be slowly improving. Those nematodes even mess up fig trees!
