Bad Prue

I have posted 5 images on photo bucket.Images 1 & 2 are of two different plants Images 3,4,5 are the same plant.(Images 3,4,5)The ends of the leaves are turning brown & the whole plant looks sickley.Everything about the three plants are the same (transplanted same day from 8 oz styrafoam cups,same mix,)except all are in different containers.Image 1 is 5 galcontainer image 2 is 5 gal swc & the other is plain 5gal container.I have checked the holes in the bottom & they are open.They have been in containers 4 days
Any info is appreciated

I wouldn't worry yet. Prue is a wimpy, easy to have brown edges kind of plant. Every time I grew it I thought it wasn’t going to make it to the day. Give them some time to get acclimated to their new home.

all of my purple russians look the same way for about the last month. They just look so weak compared to the rest of the plants I have so I figured it could just be the variety itself. Adding fish emulsion and moving it to different positions under the lights don't seem to affect it any.

Maybe they are kindred lazy spirits?

I always have to tell folks when I give the one to not over water it! It's not dying!

in pictures 1 and 2 the plant looks fine. the other pictures it appears a bit yellowish but maybe it's just over exposed, the plant looks light green vs dark green.

my concern is all the bark i see on the top of the soil. it looks like pine bark which would acidify the soil, perhaps to the point of being a problem? is the medium you planted in filled with pine bark? i'm not sure how tomatoes would like very (?) acidic soil. could you do a soil test? 6.2 to 6.8 would be a good ph, 5.5 or below is better suited for potatoes and blueberrys. could you repot it into a medium like pro mix?

greg you're right, i always tell people exactly the same thing about not over watering what appears to be a drying out plant.

This is one I have yet to grow! Tryed starting seeds from carolyn Male , but alsa no plants(last year). Next year it will be a must!

For those of you who don't realize it Tom, who posted above, is the original source for Prue, a variety I really like.

Vince, I'm sorry you weren't able to germinate the seeds I sent you last year. As I recall they were 2003 seeds, so would have been only 6 yo, and I'm pretty sure I sent you enough seeds to be able to double sow.

My problem since 2004 is that I'm unable to grow out new stock on a regular basis for so many varieties that I'd like to keep going, but what is, is.

I have to agree with Tom,

I saw the bark and thought the same thing. I know for a fact that Mircle Grow Potting Mix and look a little like that but I have had worse potting SOILs that had lots of bark and produced very bad results.

What type of soil are you using?
