uncle steves italian plum.

might be something to planting by the moon like barkeater does. seeds were planted 3/28, and i was surprised to see one up already in just 3 days. that would be the soonest i have ever had a tomato seed sprout. the other 100 or seeds can't be far behind. bring em on!!

Good for you Keith! Let the 2010 tomato season begin! I have 4 (had 6!) Silvery Fir Trees in the GH hoping for some early 'maters but the 1st 2 trays of the main crop were planted yesterday. I do have to kick myself for not watching the weather forecast closer. 2 days ago I lost 2 SFT's in the GH due to frost. That was a bummer. Had the heater all set up and had my mind on the 75 degrees expected as a high and forgot about the 33 as the low. Had frost on the grass .....and shazam! 2 dead. Sigh.

Hope it's a good year!

My first tomato popped overnight at 4 days and it is Odoriko, Momotaro's smelly cousin;-) At the same time, my first hot pepper, Inferno, popped which was 7 days after sowing.

They are taking longer this year because they aren't in the furnace room constantly where it is always 80 degrees.

duane thats too bad about the silvery fir trees. you still have 4 though. always have back ups. i remember waking up that morning looking forward to a warmer day. i let the dogs out, saw the heavy frost, and thought whoa.... we have a ways to go yet.

milkas red bulgarian, azoychka, virginia sweets, don camillo, berkley tye die, cherokee purple, black from tula, chapman, ludmilas yellow giant, anna marias heart are coming up now.

my peppers were planted on 3/14, and are still in the process of coming up. the russians from andrey received a couple years ago are being laggards. they came up ok last year.

I got spring fever and started a few tomatoes with the peppers and ground cherries around March 6th I sowed seeds each weekend from then on and last weekend was the last sowing I hope my seedlngs do ok. This year seems to be the year of experimentation for me.

Was sick & slow (& working OOT for a week) so got off to a late start but now have 9 trays of seedlings braving the weather outdoors. The first 2 trays sown 3/26 have almost mouse-ear sized true leaves so I will be potting them up this weekend most likely. The others won't be far behind.

Will be buying 4 packages of Costoco 18 oz cups tomorrow along with the Easter Lamb to roast. Soon they'll be calling me "The Dibbler" again.
