Counting babies!
Yup, it's my FIRST year growing... anything, and I'm officially obsessed! I counted my tomatoes tonight, and there were 69 on 19 plants!!! 29 on Yellow Pear, 16 on Matt's Wild Cherry and 24 divided amongst 13 others. And probably half of the 24 were TINY, so tiny that I had to practically hang upside down to look up into what used to be the bloom.
Or perhaps crazy? |

You're not crazy - I've been growing tomatoes for some 35 years and I still count my babies (83 on 28 plants as of yesterday).
Of course it is possible we are both crazy! TomNJ |

It's fun to watch the progress of one's effort in concert with the sometimes not-so-benevolent environment. I'm seeing new fruits everyday, even though the sustained mid 90's are dropping 1/2 the blooms. Cool down on the way. Yay!

Sounds about right to me! I haven't tallied em up, but I like to count how many on a plant. For example, right now, I have 10 on my Azoychka, a beautiful cluster of 6 on Costoluto Genovese and 5 on my Rosella Crimson! Hmm, now you've got me thinking about tallying up my tomato babies. Ah, forget it, too much to do today and anyway, that number will just keep going up and up as the days go by! I too am getting impatient waiting for tomatoes to ripen.

hmmmm, wasn't there a full moon last night?
Timmah - It's supposed to cool down? I wonder if that extends to VA! Now I have to go check the weather, lol. It's like a SAUNA right now, I HATE humidity!!! Tom & jhp - Good to know I'm not alone, lol! I doubt I'll keep the tally going, but I HAD to know! uber - I saw your post about that, too funny! Wonder what the neighbors were thinking... or perhaps they're used to it! Talon, thanks! |

I stop counting greenies once I get to about 100 - just do so for comparison to prior years. I start up again as they ripen, counting and weighing each variety as I pick them, again for comparison.

You just have a healthy, fun addiction - I count my earlies but stop after short awhile. Think I have at least fifty not counting cherries and about 6-7 just setting buds. Definitely will be awhile before I have anything ripe, except maybe a cherry or two. piegirl
